Creating is everything
Life intertwined between the photo studio and the ceramic studio.
When not working in the ceramic studio I can be found working in the photography studio.
I’m Lisa Keenan and in my other life I’m a professional food photographer who became obsessed with creating functional ceramic pieces while on set working alongside some of the country’s top stylists.

Much of my work incorporates impressed patterns and textures lending each piece a stylistic hand-made personality.

My work utilizes a variety of different clay bodies, each having their own look and feel. Some of my favorite clays to work with are Black Mountain, Rod's Bod, B-Mix and Paper Clay with each having its own distinct characteristics.

All of my ceramics are hand built by slabs, nothing is made on a wheel.
How it began
When I was in school, my favorite times of the day were ceramics and art classes. As time went on, that love of art and handcraft never faded. After graduating with a degree in photography, I embarked on what would become a long and successful career specializing in commercial and advertising food photography in San Francisco. Recently I returned to getting my hands dirty in clay.
“As my own aesthetic and vision grew, it became clear I could create a body of ceramic works that fit perfectly into the homes of family, friends and collectors. Many of these works have also found their place in my studio, becoming set props for cookbooks, packaging and
advertising images I've created for some of the country’s most loved food brands.”
